CalMac has a fleet of 33 vessels, 10 large (> 85 meters), 4 medium (> 49 m < 75 m) (both major), 16 small (double ended) (Loch class) and 3 small passenger landing crafts, which aren't ro-ro vessels (Island class).
These vessels are as new as the MV Carvoria, built in 2017, and as old as the MV Eigg (II), built in 1974.
The average age of the current fleet, excluding vessels that are being built, 21 years and 11 months.
They also range considerably from the smallest MV Carvoria at only 1 car to the MV Loch Seaforth (II) that is able to take 143 cars.
The MV Carvoria has around a tenth of the length of the MV Loch Seaforth (II), at only 12 metres.

Ferguson Marine Engineering Limited is currently building two identical vessels for CalMac, the first one is going to be called the MV Glen Sannox (IV) and the second one is currently referred to as MV (Hull 802).
The MV Glen Sannox (IV) is expected to run the Ardrossan - Brodick service in the end of 2018.
The MV (Hull 802) is expected to run the Uig - Tarbert / Lochmaddy service in mid 2019.
